Sammy Hagar made this street sign famous with his hit song from the 80's "I can't drive 55".  Speed limits have changed a lot since then, but this is still the most common speed limit sign that we sell.  And hopefully you won't take his lyrics to heart.  If you see a Speed Limit 55 sign posted, keep it at 55.  And don't try to blame Sammy Hagar if you get stopped by a cop.  I can promise you, that ain't going to work.

Depending on where you travel in the USA, you might not see that many speed limit 70 signs.  70 mph speeds are reserved for major highways and on some smaller highways in certain states.  But no matter what state you live, federal law now requires speed limit 70 and all speed limit signs to be a minimum of HIP reflective sheeting.  HIP sheeting is 3 times brighter than EGP sheeting so that added reflectivity is important when you are driving 70 miles per hour on a highway in the dark.

A speed limit 75 sign is the highest speed limit you will see most anywhere in the United States.  Please be sure to obey the speed limit, especially at 75 miles per hour.  The chances of a serious accident are greatly increased at higher speeds like 75 mph.  If your highways have speed limits of 75 mph, please be sure to replace any older, faded signs or signs that might not meet the minimum retroreflective requirements as spelled out in the MUTCD.
